There is a right of way on our property for the gas company and they have a propane station at the furthest tip of our property from our house. This company claims that they have no such pipe in the area in question and have emailed us a confirmation stating this.

I want to thank all of the input, as we are perplexed as to what to do. The exposed part of this pipe is probably 8 feet from our back door and it is running past our house to towards the road..
We contacted the call before you dig number that sends out all of the utility companies. So far the only response that we have had is that no one knows what the pipe is. One of the gas companies said they didn’t want anything to do with it and will not assume the cost of removing the pipe.
